Sneak Peek – Avens
I know!!! It’s not much to see! I’ll give you some details instead! Avens is a pullover sweater inspired by traditional Icelandic lopapeysa sweaters. It’s a little longer than a lot of sweaters and designed to be a little roomy – perfect for throwing on when you’re running around in cooler weather or heading out for coffee or when you want to stay home and be super cozy when it’s cold outside! The body is knit in the round as are the two sleeves. Then, the three pieces are joined together and the yoke is worked. There’s color work in the yoke and at the base of the sweater and sleeves. Hence, I can’t really share too much today! But I’m really excited about it! I can’t wait to show you the design!
The sweater is inspired by the Aven which is the National Flower of Iceland:
I used Léttlopi yarn which was so generously supplied to me by Álafoss. I love this worsted weight yarn: soft with wonderful stitch definition. I used Léttlopi before when I knit a sweater for my niece last year. (also an original design – pattern to be available soon!!)
You can find Álafoss here. The yarn ships and is delivered very quickly. Here are the colors that I used on knitting the sample:
The primary color of the sweater is Ash Heather (0056) with contrasting colors of White (0051), Lapis Blue Heather (1403), Glacier Blue Heather (1404), Spring Green Heather (1406) Pink Heather (1412) . You can find all of the colors here.
The pattern will be published very soon. To celebrate, the very kind people at Álafoss are going to offer a coupon code – good for 15% off your first order. Stay tuned…I’ll let y’all know the coupon code when the pattern is released!
