Finishing School

For me, finishing a knitted project can be more intimidating that the actual knitting part.  All those pesky ends to weave in.  Will it unravel?  Will my attempt to hide the yarn show too much?  Will it take forever?

Well, after googling “how to weave in ends knitting” this morning, I think I have found that the answer to all of these questions will (hopefully) always be, in the future, “NO”.

I watched  this Knitting Instructional Video from Jimmy Beans Wool – How to Weave in Ends and was able to follow the steps pretty easily.

Here’s what I did:

Go through a few stitches in one direction, pulling fairly tight
Starting on the wrong side, go through a few stitches in one direction, pulling fairly tight
Go back in the other direction
Repeat  in the other direction
Turn and go in the opposite direction one more time

Be careful that the needle and yarn do not show on the right side

Carefully, cut yarn fairly close to fabric

Since I have a color change with my Color Affection Shawl, it was a little tricky but I think it came out okay:

Pictures of this Color Affection coming soon after I block! I love the color combo and I’m secretly wishing that this wasn’t a gift!!
